2014 was tremendously successful for all the mobile app developers, including those making apps for children. What is surprising is that not only the apps in the Games/Entertainment segment are on the first spots. More and more parents prefer spending money on Apps that are also educational and can actually help with their child’s development.
So we are now seeing a trend in the mobile apps – more and more developers are cooperating with children specialists and psychologists to make their apps simultaneously entertaining and educational.
For example Tales with GiGi, a mobile storytelling app for children from 2-7 years old, has successfully done that. An app with more than 35 classical and narrated fairy tales and fables on first sight but can offer so much more. You can use it as a regular book (with fancier cover) and read to your kids at bedtime, or listen to the stories, all of which are narrated by UK and US native voiceovers, which is really develop oral and diction skills. It is perfect to leave your kid occupied with it, or something you can do together.
With all the things changing nowadays, we can certainly say that the old stories that generations of children heard, and generations of parents told and retold, are something that won’t change anytime soon. When it comes to reading to your child, or presenting a new story to your kids, most parents passing on the same stories that they heard when they were younger. Every parent wants their children to know who Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, and The Three Little Pigs are. It is normal, you link those characters directly to your childhood, and you want to pass the emotion it got into you to listen to this story for the first time it to your children. For learning new words, skills, teaching kids moral, or just for having fun – a great app to check out.
